Fig is commonly referred to as Anjeer in Hindi. Figs are a rich source of potassium which helps lower high blood pressure in one’s body, controlling the heart rate. These are also helpful to lower one’s weight. Often dieticians include figs in the diet charts that they give to people, who enroll themselves in the weight management programs. The presence of vitamin A, E, and K act as saviors from harmful diseases like cancer, diabetes amongst others. The B-complex vitamins are present in fig help in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats in the human body. The blood sugar level and blood glucose level in the body can be maintained because of the presence of chlorogenic acid in figs. Minerals like calcium, copper, iron and zinc are also found in figs. Iron and copper are necessary for the formation of red blood cells. It contributes towards the optimum health of one’s body.
